Virginia’s new overtime law takes effect soon

Virginia’s new overtime law takes effect on July 1 with a host of new provisions affecting overtime pay.

The state law includes penalties for employers who misclassify employees as exempt from overtime, expands the time period under which employees can make a claim for overtime pay, and enacts new provisions on how to calculate overtime pay, says SESCO Management Consultants.
