EEOC extends deadline for submitting demographic data

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is giving employers extra time to submit EEO-1 demographic data about their workforces from 2019 and 2020. The deadline to provide that information has been pushed back to August.

The EEOC requires employers with 100 or more employees and federal contractors with 50 or more employees meeting certain criteria to submit demographic data about of their workforces, including information about their employees’ race, ethnicity and job categories.

These reports were previously due by July 19, but now employers have until Aug. 23 to complete their submissions.

The EEOC’s collection of this data through a portal that opened in April has been delayed numerous times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Under the Civil Rights Act, the EEO-1 report is usually due by March 31 every year.
