Deadline extended for 2020 contributions into HSAs, Archer MSAs and other accounts

When the IRS lst month postponed the annual tax filing deadline for 1040 forms to May 17, 2021, that automatically extended the time taxpayers have to make 2020 contributions into various health, retirement and education savings accounts.

Those taxpayers now have until May 17 to make their contributions for 2020 into Health Savings Accounts, Archer medical savings accounts, Coverdell education savings accounts as well as Individual Retirement Accounts and Roth IRAs.

The notice also postpones to June 30, 2021, the due date for the form 5498 series returns related to those accounts.
